Volta Trucks and DB Schenker complete test of electric truck

Electric commercial vehicle manufacturer, Volta Trucks, and European logistics service provider, DB Schenker, have completed on-road prototype testing of the fully-electric Volta Zero truck in Paris. In 2021, SB Schenker pre-ordered 1,470 Volta Zeros, the largest order of medium-duty electrified trucks in Europe.

The fully-electric 16-tonne Volta Zero, with a range of 150-200km, will be deployed at DB Schenker’s European terminals with an initial rollout at 10 locations across five countries. Following the initial prototype test DB Schenker plans to start adding the first pilot vehicles to its European fleet at the beginning of 2023.

Reducing the environmental impact of freight deliveries, particularly in city centres, is an important part of establishing zero carbon global supply chains. Volta Truck estimates that based on their current order book of 6,500 vehicles they can eliminate 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 by 2025.
